Read “No Easy Day” and feel as if you’re a part of the mission that killed Osama bin Laden. Read more of it in this No Easy Day Review.
No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission That Killed Osama bin Laden is written by the pseudonymous Mark Owen, one of the SEALs on the mission that killed Osama bin Laden so no more arguing about it, the book was written from a firsthand source. The account on the raid of Osama bin Laden was quickly propelled as the No. 1 in Amazon. Mark Owen is donating most of the proceeds of his book to the charities that aims to help the families of the fallen SEALs.
The title of the book comes from a piece of Navy SEAL lore that “the only easy day was yesterday.” “No Easy Day” joins a growing shelf of best-selling SEAL memoirs that detail just how true that piece of lore is; such books are “The Heart and the Fist” and “Lone Survivor”.
Owen and his co-author, Kevin Maurer, was able to navigate the reader through the secretive world of the SEALs and to Owen’s graduation into SEAL Team 6, an elite group within the SEAL elite that, along with the Army’s Delta Force and is arguably the most effective fighting unit in the world.
In the book, Owen also describes his life growing up in the Alaskan outback where he learned to handle guns and hunt from a young age. He developed the skills which are considered valuable for his future line of work. The descriptions of the events are detailed—the gruelling deployments and the uncertainties of warfare in the streets of Baghdad and the mountains of eastern Afghanistan. The writing is fast-paced and the authors tell some good yarns in a conversational style and have also neatly captured the camaraderie, the pranks, the constant training and the evident love that the men of SEAL Team 6 have for their jobs.
The book, “No Easy Day”, does not disappoint as it really takes you in a roller coaster ride throughout the events that happened. Buy Owen’s book to find out what really happened that night in Abbottabad.
